New patent licensing program allows select software and application technology services companies greater access to IV’s vast patent portfolio.
Toler Law Group, PC (Toler) and Intellectual Ventures (IV) have signed an agreement to widen access to IV’s patent portfolio for a select group of privately-funded technology companies with high growth potential in the cloud, cybersecurity, data management, ecommerce, social media and other software services spaces.
“This agreement is about placing our best energies toward an increasingly virtual business world,” said Jim Weisfield, Vice President of Licensing, Sales and Partnerships, at IV. “IV’s collaboration with Toler opens doors for burgeoning SaaS companies to get access to valuable patents to enable their business pursuits, help attract investment, increase valuation for an acquisition or IPO, and access diverse patented technologies in increasingly competitive environments.”
“Almost all aspects of business—whether communications, commerce, or the day-to-day management of operations and data—are increasingly reliant on software and data management technologies,” said Jeff Toler, Founder of the Toler Law Group. “Our aim is to give rapidly growing software companies access to the most relevant, high-value patents in the broad IV portfolio that support their long-term business goals.”
“Jeff Toler’s team has helped facilitate the sale of IV patents in the past, and with his familiarity of the IV portfolio we are pleased to once again collaborate in this new licensing endeavor,” said Weisfield. “Jeff and the Toler licensing team bring decades of experience completing high-value patent transactions, including corporate sales and licensing, for many Fortune 500 and institutionally funded private startups in the technology industry.”
